The Cayman Islands national women’s under-20 football team’s hopes of advancing to the 2023 CONCACAF Championship have been dashed, after losing three consecutive games in the qualifiers.
Cayman kicked off Group D on 15 April, at the Rignaal Jean Francisca Stadium in Willemstad, Curaçao, losing 3-0 to Trinidad and Tobago.
In the next match two days later, Cayman lost to Puerto Rico in a game where Molly Kehoe scored from outside the box – giving Cayman their first and last goal of the tournament. The Puerto Ricans then romped to a 6-1 victory.
The Cayman squad failed to secure a win in their final fixture against Guadeloupe, losing 3-0 on Wednesday, 19 April.
