Sunday’s 23 April opening match was between Claremont and top-of-the-table Gabriels, who could clinch the title with a win.
Unfortunately for the Gabriels, though, a win never looked likely here, as the effects of the preceding day’s club boat party were there for all to see.
The ‘Over 40s’ on the other hand were fresh and at full strength, winning more comfortably than the 1-9 to 1-6 final score suggested.
Gabriels’ reversal here now means Na Fianna and Cavan Gaels can still pip them to the title on Sunday, 30 April.
