Police are searching for a lone gunman who opened fire on two men outside a West Bay Road bar on Friday night.
In a statement from the RCIPS, a spokesperson said, shortly after 10:50pm two men who were standing in the parking lot of the bar were approached by a masked man who brandished a firearm and began shooting.
“The first man received a single gunshot wound to the neck, and is currently being treated for the injury, which appears to be non-life threatening.” said police. “The second man received multiple gunshot wounds, and remains in critical condition.”
One man was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital by private car. Armed police are said to have rendered first aid to the second man who was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
The matter is under investigation and anyone with information, or who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area around the time of the incident is asked to contact the police’s Criminal Investigations Department at 949-4222 or 949-3999.
