Police have identified the victim of Friday’s daytime murder as 25-year-old Divonte Alejandro Hernandez from George Town.
The incident happened on Sound Way near Shedden Road, George Town some time before 10:30am on 29 Sept, according to a police press release.
Eyewitnesses told the Compass that Hernandez was approached from behind and shot multiple times in a dirt parking lot a few feet from a liquor store.
The attack is thought to have happened in front of his young child.
Hernandez was taken to Cayman Islands Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The suspect in the incident fled the location to the east in a light coloured Honda Fit.
In a press release on Monday, 2 Oct, police said they had recovered what they believe to be the same vehicle in the vicinity of Crewe Road, George Town.
Officers are following numerous lines of inquiry and investigations are ongoing. No arrests have been made.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward, and anyone with information can call the Major Incident Room on 649-2930.
