One year after the murder of Ian Duffell, and with two men arrested but not charged, police are appealing for witnesses to come forward to assist with the investigation.
Duffell, 51, was stabbed to death during an altercation in the Birch Tree Hill Road area of West Bay on 14 Oct.
The incident happened around 10:55pm, starting on Swallow Road where Duffell had been with his alleged assailant.
A 42-year-old man who was arrested in connection with the murder has since been released on bail. Another man, aged 54, was also arrested in Duffell’s case, but he too remains on bail pending further inquiries.
Police believe that the attack on Duffell began on Captain Joe and Osbert Road and he ran onto Birch Tree Hill to escape.
He went into the garden of a nearby home and was killed.
On Saturday, which marked one year since Duffell’s murder, police issued an appeal for the public’s help to bring his killers to justice.
“The investigation into this incident is still active and on-going and so far two men have been arrested in connection with the investigation. Detectives are still appealing for witnesses to come forward and provide information that may assist with the investigation,” police said in a statement.
