Murder suspect George Senior arrested

George Orlando Senior has been arrested in connection with the murder of Divonte Alejandro Hernandez, who was shot dead in broad daylight last month.

According to police, Senior, a 35-year-old George Town resident, was taken into custody during an operation in East End after having spent the past week evading officers.

In a statement released by the RCIPS on Wednesday night, a spokesperson said a woman alleged to have been helping Senior hide from police was also arrested.

“Police also arrested a 32-year-old woman, of West Bay, on suspicion of being an accessory by assisting an offender to avoid arrest,” police said in their statement, adding that both individuals remained in custody while investigations continue.

Senior is the third person arrested in connection with Hernandez’s killing.

On 6 Oct., one week after the shooting, police arrested Sean Conolly Amaya of George Town.

Divonte Hernandez was shot dead on the morning of 29 Sept.

Amaya, 24, is the only person to have been charged with Hernandez’s murder so far.

One week later, on 11 Oct., police arrested Maurice Ray Chin, of Bodden Town, on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder. However, he has not been charged with that offence and remains in custody on a separate charge of possession of a prohibited weapon.

Police say Hernandez, 24, of George Town, was shot in the back shortly after 10am on 29 Sept., while assisting his 2-year-old daughter in a parking lot off Sound Way, near the Eastern Avenue and Shedden Road intersection. The toddler was not in the direct line of fire, according to police.
