Police are investigating an attack on a man in his home in Savannah that occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The victim suffered a laceration to his forehead and required hospital treatment. He was discharged later on Saturday.
An RCIPS spokesperson said the man was wounded when he was struck by an “unknown object” after fleeing inside his residence following a confrontation with a man known to him outside his home around 4am Saturday morning.
The spokesperson confirmed that earlier reports that a shooting had occurred at the scene, in Butterfly Circle, off Hirst Road, were inaccurate, and there is no evidence a firearm had been discharged.
Officers who attended the scene observed damage to the door and a window of the home. Initial examinations indicated that this was caused by blunt force.
Police said the attacker fled the scene following the assault.
The RCIPS is appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have any information to contact Bodden Town CID at 947-2220. Anonymous tips can be provided directly to the RCIPS via its tip line at 949-7777, or via its website. Tips can also be submitted anonymously via the Cayman Crime Stoppers website.
