A man wanted in Jamaica on suspicion of murder was located in Cayman this week.
The RCIPS said police here were alerted on Monday by regional law enforcement partners in Jamaica that the suspect was in Cayman.
Working with Customs and Border Control, police found and detained the suspect on Wednesday. He was transported back to Jamaica Thursday morning, accompanied by CBC officers, and handed over to the Jamaican Constabulary Force on arrival, police said.
“This apprehension demonstrates the importance of collaborative efforts between the police and our local, regional and international partners in securing our borders,” Commissioner of Police Kurt Walton said in a statement.
He added, “It also sends a clear message that we will act swiftly when alerted of criminals who attempt to enter or reside in our Islands.”
