Anyone who was in the area during a violent incident on Seven Mile Public Beach on 17 Dec. is being asked to come forward to help police with their investigations.
Officers attended the scene at 1.45am after receiving a report of a fight involving multiple people in the early hours of the morning, a police press release said.
On arrival, those involved had left the location.
Later that morning, a man went to Cayman Islands Hospital with serious lacerations to his head and hand from the altercation which required surgery.
Detective Superintendent Peter Lansdown said: “For this type of case, witnesses are vital in order for police to reach an evidential threshold for a charge to be made against a culprit.
“We thank those who have come forward, but we must build our case in order to have the best chance to achieve justice for the victim.”
A video of the incident was circulated on social media.
It showed a number of people in the vicinity at the time of the incident, some giving a commentary on events.
Police are encouraging these people to come forward and provide information to support the case.
