The sixth annual Heart Warriors and Angels Beach Walk, held early on Sunday morning in memory of baby Nolan Rory Evans, who passed away in 2018 from a congenital heart defect, has raised more than $27,000.

The walk, which coincided with Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Week, serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of early detection and ongoing support for affected families.

More than 300 participants joined the family- and pet-friendly walk, which raised funds to help families of children with heart conditions.

Organisers, in a press release, said the Heart Warriors and Angels Beach Walk “is not just a stroll along the shore; it’s a heartfelt tribute to those who have fought congenital heart disease and an opportunity to raise crucial funds for the Cayman Heart Fund’s Team Nolan Pediatric Program”.

Nolan’s mother, Ailian Evans, said in the release, “As a mother who has experienced the loss of a child due to congenital heart disease, I understand firsthand how expenses insurance doesn’t cover add up. Our family found solace in channeling our grief into action by organizing events like the Heart Warriors and Angels Beach Walk in Nolan’s memory.”
