The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service suspended a probationary officer who was arrested this week on suspicion of assault causing actual bodily harm and driving under the influence.
Police arrested the 31-year-old West Bay man following an incident that took place on West Bay Road on Monday.
“He is currently on bail pending further investigation,” the service said in a press release.
Commissioner Kurt Walton recently told the Cayman Compass that the service is taking a strong stance against misbehaviour from officers, immediately suspending those charged with criminal offences.
The press release did not indicate if the officer had yet been charged or when he would appear in court.
