The Elite SC women’s team claimed the Cayman Islands Football Association FA Cup after edging Sunset FC on penalties at the Centre of Excellence pitch, on 2 June.
It was a valiant effort by Elite, who was desperate to conquer Sunset, the team that bested the them twice during the season when the stakes were high – first for the President’s Cup and then the league title.

“We worked hard,” Elite’s captain Deondra Kelly said after the match. “This season, we had a lot of challenges but we really wanted to win this and I’m so proud that we were able to.”
Sunset led the game after a goal from Seleste Ayala just before halftime. But in the 57th minute, Elite’s Kate Amigo brought her team back into the game, which ultimately resulted in the teams going to penalties.
Elite then got the better of Sunset 4-2 to lift the FA Cup for the second straight season.
