Police have arrested a 39-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder following the shooting of a man in George Town in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The RCIPS said police arrested the suspect, who lives in George Town, on Saturday. He remained in custody at the police detention centre on Saturday night.
The shooting occurred shortly before 3am on Eastern Avenue.
Police officers on patrol, who heard shots being fired, came across the victim lying on the ground outside a bar. He had been shot multiple times, police said.
The victim was taken by ambulance to George Town Hospital, where he was described as being in a serious but stable condition.

Police said investigations into the shooting are continuing.
