Gala season is in full swing in Cayman, with a whirlwind of black-tie and themed events taking place to raise funds and awareness for charitable causes.
The Breast Cancer Foundation Dinner kicks off the season in grand style every October at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman.
The event sells out each year, with this year’s gala on 5 Oct., featuring guest artist Shaggy, no exception.
It’s the foundation’s major fundraising event of the year, with funds going towards its work in providing support and resources for breast cancer patients and their families.
Other major fundraisers to mark on your calendar include:
OPEN YOUR HEARTS TO THE CHILDREN
Help for Children Cayman (formerly Hedge Funds Care Cayman) will hold its annual Open Your Hearts to the Children gala at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman on 2 Nov.
The evening includes a cocktail reception, three-course dinner, live and silent auctions and live entertainment.
This year’s theme is ‘Champagne and Pearls’.
The flagship event raised an impressive US$400,000 last year, which was dressed around an intergalactic black-tie theme.
Funds support the non-profit’s commitment to prevent, treat and end child abuse in Cayman, benefitting a variety of local initiatives.

CCMI’S FESTIVAL OF SEAS
The Central Caribbean Marine Institute (CCMI) is staging ‘Festival of the Seas: Coral Reef Horizons’ – a gala event that aims to raise funds and awareness of Cayman’s coral reefs.
With climate change impacting coral reefs, funds raised will help CCMI broaden its horizons in education, conservation and coral reef research.
Guests will be greeted with a glass of bubbly, followed by a three-course meal, live and silent auctions, live music and dancing.
This year’s keynote speaker is award-winning ‘Blue Planet’ and ‘Planet Earth’ documentary cameraman Doug Allen.
The dress code is black tie and ‘coral colourful’.
Festival of Seas is CCMI’s largest fundraising event of the year, with last year’s gala a sold-out affair.
