Video: Southern Seven Mile now only accessible by boat

It was once possible to walk the length of Seven Mile Beach from the Marriott resort to West Bay beach.

As of this week the first mile of that journey is now only possible by boat.

Erosion had already stripped away sand at the beach’s southern end. But the passage of Tropical Storm Helene has left previously pristine beach front under several feet of water.

The Compass took a boat ride along the coast this week to show the extent to which the damage has worsened in the wake of the latest storm.
