Owners of dive boats and commercial watersports operators on the west side of the Grand Cayman have sought refuge, in anticipation of the possibility of 6-foot waves starting to impact the normally tranquil west side of Grand Cayman starting late tonight.

The Cayman Islands National Weather Service, in their forecast synopsis, states that a cold front is expected to move across the Cayman area this afternoon and winds will turn northwesterly by evening.

The forecast adds, “Wave heights are expected to increase from tomorrow [Friday] as wind speeds increase. Wave action is expected mainly along the west coast.”

The weather service forecast also calls for possible rain showers beginning this afternoon and some thunder.
