Festive season revellers have been given a Christmas present by the Cayman government – a little extra time to enjoy drinks at bars, restaurants and clubs.

Hotels, pubs and restaurants will be able sell alcohol until 2:45am and play music until 3am on New Year’s Day.

Nightclubs will operate under their normal rules with the sale of alcohol permitted until 3:45am and music until 4am.

Counterparts in the Sister Islands can sell liquor until 1:50am and play music until 2am on New Year’s Day.

Package licence holders will be allowed to sell alcohol until 11pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

The Sister Islands will allow people to make last-minute purchases of drinks until 9pm.

Only hotels and restaurants will be allowed to open on Christmas Day and there will be no extension of hours on Boxing Day.
