Cayman is set to put on spectacular displays of fireworks that will light up the sky this New Year’s Eve. We’ve selected a few options for your viewing pleasure and explain how to get home safely from your night out.

Camana Bay

You can ring in the new year with a bang early at Camana Bay with a family-oriented fireworks show that begins at 8pm on the Festival Lawn.

George Town

Seafarers Way in George Town will host an evening of fun, starting off with a family-friendly celebration from 6-10pm, including fireworks at 9pm. The free event is for all ages.

The adult-oriented entertainment starts at 10pm, ending with another fireworks display when the clock strikes midnight.

In order to facilitate the celebrations the RCIPS has advised that Seafarers Way between Fort Street and Goring Avenue as well as the junction of Shedden Road and Seafarers Way will be closed from 3pm on Tuesday and will continue to 3am on 1st January, 2025.

“Local access will be allowed for a specific period of the road closure as necessary for business open during this period and for cruise line passengers to gain access to the port for departure,” the RCIPS said in a brief statement.

Grand Old House on South Church Street in George Town is also hosting their New Year’s Eve Gala Dinner and will end the night with a colourful treat of fireworks at midnight.

Seven Mile Beach

You can grab your family, friends, a chair or blanket and get a front-row seat to the breathtaking view of fireworks at midnight by beachside restaurant and hotels along Seven Mile Beach, including The Westin, Marriott and Kimpton Seafire.

Kaibo Beach

If you prefer to head out east, the Rum Point area will host a night of dancing, starting at 6pm, a New Year’s Eve dinner by reservation, and a display of fireworks that will light up the night sky.

Purple Ribbon bus service

Each year, the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service and the National Drug Council, along with a number of partner agencies, launch their #ArriveAlive345 campaign, which encourages partygoers to not drink and drive for the festivities.

The initiative, sponsored by Compass Media and others, includes a ‘Purple Ribbon Pledge’ and the ‘Designated Driver’ campaign, both aimed at reducing drunk driving this holiday season.

During the New Year’s Eve celebrations, the Purple Ribbon Bus free shuttle service runs from 9pm until 5am, with routes serving all districts on Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac. You simply have to wait outside any major restaurant/bar or bus stop, look for a bus with purple flashing lights and reflective signage, check the bus is heading in your direction and get on board.

Meanwhile, anyone who identifies themselves as a designated driver gets the full support of restaurants and bars. They will receive a DD keychain and complimentary soft drinks in exchange for their DD status.

Furry friends on New Year’s Eve

The sight and sound of fireworks may not be a joyous occasion for our furry friends. Pets may become startled and try to run away from their homes or owners.

The Cayman Islands Humane Society is encouraging pet owners to “microchip your pets, keep your pets indoors, exercise your dogs earlier in the day, give your pet a safe place to hide, and ask your vet for calming meds”.
