The Cayman Islands Fire Service is looking for new recruits and will be hosting two events to engage interested members of the public.
“This recruitment initiative is designed to offer the public a unique opportunity to ask questions, explore equipment, and acquire detailed information about the Department’s functions and operations, as well as the primary responsibilities of a Firefighter,” the fire service said in a press release.
The first recruitment event will be held 17 May from 10am-2pm in Grand Cayman at the Central Fire Station at 148 Owen Roberts Drive in George Town.
The second event will be held 21 May from 11am-5pm in Cayman Brac at 57 West End Road.
The service said recruits would have work opportunities on all three islands and would be trained in “aerodrome and domestic firefighting” under the leadership of seasoned professionals.
Eligible firefighters must be Caymanian or a permanent resident with unrestricted right to work, be at least 18 years old, hold a high school diploma, have the ability to swim, meet physical-fitness requirements and be available for 42 hours of shift-based work a week.
More information about requirements and benefits are available on the government careers portal.
The application deadline for this recruit class is 25 May.
