The man charged with the abduction and murder of 2-year-old Alissady Azalea Powell appeared in the Grand Court on Friday via video-link from HMP Northward.
Devon Emmanuel Wright Jr., 33, appeared in front of Justice Cheryll Richards and was remanded in custody until 8 Aug. when he is scheduled to appear again by video-link.
It is alleged Wright abducted and murdered Alissady, who was 2 years old when she disappeared. The toddler’s body was found on Cayman Brac’s ironshore on 26 July 2022.
Wright initially appeared before Chief Magistrate Angelyn Hernandez on Thursday, 3 July who then transferred the proceedings to the Grand Court due to the seriousness of the case.
