Cayman’s Department of Agriculture would like to introduce puppies to the public in an effort to find adoptive homes for them.
To do this, it is hosting a ‘Puppies on the Beach’ event on Sunday, 10 Aug. starting at 8am. Members of the public will get to meet and interact with the puppies at Seven Mile Public Beach and then join in a walk to Cemetery Beach and back.
The public doesn’t have to walk the entire way but is encouraged to walk for at least a part of it, a Department of Agriculture spokesperson said.
The event is scheduled to wind up at 11am.
“This initiative, along with other monthly events, aims to remove the stigma that dogs at the pound are euthanised,” the Department of Agriculture said in a notice for the event.
“In fact, these dogs are registered to be rehomed through local charities, veterinary clinics, and other partners.”
In addition to getting to meet the puppies, the public can chat with the Animal Welfare Team, reserve a pet for the future, and learn more about the adoption process and giving a puppy a loving home.
