Thousands of music fans packed onto the Camana Bay Festival Green for the Capella Music Festival on Saturday 25 April.

Now in its fifth year, Capella is one of Cayman’s flagship live music events, featuring 12 hours of performances, food, drink and entertainment.

Any fears of rain evaporated in the blazing Caribbean sunshine, which welcomed the keenest ticket holders when gates opened at midday, with well-prepared attendees bringing chairs and sunhats to while away the afternoon.

The US singer even removed his sunglasses to deliver a heartfelt soliloquy on how its faith in God has kept him going in his darkness hours before rewarding the crowd with a much-anticipated rendition of ‘Blurred Lines’ which brought the crowd to life.

Other artists gracing the main stage included Grammy-nominated Tip ‘T.I.’ Harris, Problem Child, Walshy Fire, Nicotine Dolls and Ziggy Zeigler before the evening came to a barnstorming finish with the dancehall and reggae vibes of Jamaican star Aidonia.

The Moonshine Saloon stage offered DJ tunes, karaoke, line dancing and a rodeo bull challenge, while the Supernova stage was jumping to popular local band The Neverines as well as Tiago and Las Palmas.

Judging by the happy if exhausted crowds streaming back over the Maris Avenue bridge heading home, the countdown to Capella 2027 has already begun.
