Internationally recognised author, speaker and breast cancer survivor Christine Handy will attend the Cayman Islands Breast Cancer Foundation’s second annual ‘Beyond the Scar’ fashion show as a VIP guest.

The celebrates resilience, beauty and strength, while raising awareness and support for those affected by breast cancer in the Cayman Islands.

During the event, 10 breast cancer survivor models have officially begun their journey to the runway. Guided by creative directors Isy B and Lauren Sonnen, the team has started shaping this year’s vision, including selecting the show’s theme and curating the wardrobe – marking the first steps toward what promises to be a powerful and moving production.

Handy, best known for her bestselling novel ‘Walk Beside Me’, will share her personal journey through breast cancer. Her story of survival, faith and transformation continues to inspire audiences around the world.

“I’m deeply honored and excited to travel to the beautiful Cayman Islands to serve as the speaker at the Beyond the Scar event,” Handy said. “After facing my own stage 2 breast cancer diagnosis, multiple mastectomies, implant illness and the devastating blow to my self-image as an international model, I learned that our worth is never defined by our scars – physical or emotional.

I do this work because I refuse to let women walk through cancer alone. I show up so survivors can see that resilience, faith and inner beauty rise far beyond the scar. Together we can celebrate life, strength and hope in every form.”

In addition to being a headline sponsor, Baptist Health International will host a panel discussion featuring Handy, Dr. Jane Méndez, BCF Wellness Manager Pam Laurenson and a local breast cancer patient – offering a powerful blend of lived experience and medical insight.

The Beyond the Scar fashion show will highlight the courage of breast cancer survivors, showcasing them on the runway in an empowering celebration of confidence, healing and community..
