Royal Cayman Islands Police are investigating the robbery of a man in the driveway of his George Town home in the pre-dawn hours Tuesday.
According to investigators, a man had parked his vehicle and was unloading it around 4am when he was approached by two men. One of the men had a hand gun, police said.
The suspects took money and jewellery during the hold up. The robbery victim was not hurt and no shots were fired.
Police said the culprits were dressed all in black and officers could not immediately provide a description of the men.
Anyone with information about the crime should call George Town Criminal Investigation Department at 949-4222 or Crime Stoppers at 800-8477 (TIPS).

No crime committed here say the RCIPS, as they stated no shots were fired and no one was hurt so no harm done. I guess we ought to be thankful for and appreciate our resident stickup kids. Why not everyone take up a collection to reward these guys for thier good deeds after all they are doing wonders for the island reputation.
Note: Since Kurt Tibbetts and McKeeva Bush shook hands and the two-party system was officially launch in the Cayman Islands, after the destruction of hurricane Ivan in 2004, crime has dramatically increased. We have never had so much crime between these years like we had before Ivan. Why am I seeing a link between the system of government and crime??? Ivan, it seems, was just to warn us of a new chapter in our history.
At least two recent robberies have ‘taken an unknown anount of cash’ and other personal values off the victims, at gunpoint.
This sounds like targeted robberies with the robbers knowing exactly who their victims were, exactly when they would be arriving at their homes and that they would be carrying cash on them.
Are self-employed business people know being targeted ?
It would suggest this, if the information here indicates any significant amount of cash being carried by both victims.
People in such positions really need to consider taking more steps to protect themselves and their property.
My question is; what is Cayman’s position on granting firearms licences to vulnerable citizens and/or accomodating specialised security personnell to provide more robust protection for potential clients.
If the CI Govt. and the RCIPS Commissioner of Police are not either considering or willing to consider these options, then they are culpable in rendering Cayman’s citizens as sacrifices to the criminal element in Cayman.
The laws allowing these options are already on the books of the Cayman Islands.
