Vehicle rolls over in Bodden Town

A rollover accident shut down a main road through eastern Bodden Town late Saturday and sent one person to hospital.

The crash happened around 10.30pm Saturday in the Midland Acres area.

According to a police press release on the incident, two vehicles were involved in the crash:

“At about 10.30pm a black Dodge caravan was travelling west towards Bodden Town and whilst negotiating a left hand bend the driver apparently lost control and swerved onto the east bound lane colliding with a grey Toyota Gravia in the vicinity of Midland Acres, Bodden Town causing the Toyota Gravia to flip over.

“The 67-year-old male driver of the Toyota Gravia was conveyed to George Town Hospital with head injuries where he is currently being treated.

“The 66 year old male driver of the Dodge Caravan was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

“PC 320 Gordon of the Bodden Town Police Station is appealing for any witnesses to the accident to contact the police station on 947 2220.”
Police said the 67-year-old man’s injuries from the accident were not believed to be life-threatening.
