The 47th annual Agriculture Show kicks off today and looks set to attract thousands of visitors from across Grand Cayman.
As it does every year, the show will offer scrumptuous local food, family-oriented entertainment, arts and crafts displays, and local produce.
The event takes place at the Stacey Watler Pavilion in Lower Valley and promises activities for the entire family.
From 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., the grounds will be transformed into the country’s largest cultural event on the national calendar.
The day will feature Caymanian artisans and crafts people with their best works on display, livestock farmers showcasing their prized animals, cooking competitions, pony rides, plant sales, live music, kids zone, and much more.
Agriculture Society President Justin Wood said the day brings awareness and publicity of agricultural produce and craftsmanship available locally, as well as provides a quality, relaxing family environment in which guests can be educated and entertained.
“We invite you to use the day to familiarize yourself with all that our local farmers have to offer, by visiting their stalls and displays, and talking to the individuals responsible for the produce and products on display,” he said.
The show will also spotlight key areas such as health and lifestyle. This year, the Department of Agriculture booth focuses on food and nutrition and on sale will be a wide range of vegetables, fruits, culinary herbs and seedlings.
The event will also honor entrants and contributors with awards for their participation in the annual show.
Organizers say there will be additional parking areas available this year, and bus service will be operating throughout the day to shuttle visitors to and from the parking lots.
