Airport rent-a-car robbed

The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service is investigating an armed robbery that took place at Andy’s Rent-A-Car on Owen Roberts Drive Sunday.

The 911 Emergency Communications Centre received a call from an Andy’s employee at 9.20pm stating that two masked men had robbed the business, taking some cash. Police responded and were told that the men entered through the front door carrying what appeared to be hand guns.

Police said there were two employees on the premises at the time. Those workers told police the men demanded that one of the staff members hand over cash and cheques. The suspects also allegedly took two Motorola radios that were in the building and left through the back door.

One of the employees received minor injuries during the incident.

Witnesses said the suspect’s faces were fully covered during the heist. One of the men was described as about 5-foot, 6-inches tall, of medium build and was wearing a dark grey long sleeve shirt. The other man was described as about 5-foot, 9-inches tall and wore a dark-coloured long sleeve shirt with a white print on the front.

Police carried out a full search of the area after the robbery, but no arrests were immediately made.
