Sunset FC leads in the Cayman Islands Football Association Premier League competition with nine points followed by Elite on seven, Scholars International and Latinos are on four a piece while Tigers has three, George Town two Future SC one and Roma on zero.
The competition continues on Sunday with four games at venues Annex and Ed Bush at 5pm and 7:00pm sharp.
Roma take on Scholars International at 5pm at Ed Bush, Tigers play Sunset at 7pm at that same venue and at the Annex George Town face Elite at 5pm and Latinos meet Future at 7pm.
In the last set of games played earlier this month Sunset came from behind to defeat George Town 3-2. Scoring in the first minute for George Town was Jermaine Seymour after catching custodian Neil Purton napping.
Declan Cassidy equalized for Sunset in the 38th minute while Gareth Thacker made the score 2-1 for Sunset.
With George Town trailing at half time the game became more physical.
In the 48th minute Sunset netted again this time off the boots of national representative Eric Brown. Incidentally, Brown recently scored two goals against Grenada in Stage Two of the Digicel Caribbean Championship Cup played in Guadeloupe.
In the 52nd minute Seymour struck goal again to give his team hope of levelling the score but try as George Town may the game ended 3-2 in favour of Sunset.
In the feature game played same place between Scholars International and Latinos Scholars International were clipped 1-0 by Latinos.
Victor Chicas scored the all important goal as early as the third minute when he surprised national goal keeper Jermaine ‘Whacky Dip’ Brown with a high ball.
Latinos locked off the defense line disallowing the charging Scholars International from advancing to goal. The prolific David ‘Starky’ Harding was kept in a tight position throughout the game as he battled to get one past Latinos custodian Marlon Moore.
Scholars International coach Antonio Smith made several substitutions but the result was sealed in favour of Latinos was the final score at regulation time.
Meanwhile at Ed Bush in West Bay Elite landed Roma their third defeat, beating them 2-1.
Scoring for Elite was player/coach and former national player Arden ‘Cheeky’ Rivers in the 3rd and 65th minute while Dunk Marlon netted the consolation goal in the 26th minute for Roma.
In First Division action East End came from behind to beat Scholars International 4-3 at the Annex Play Field while North Side FC got past Sunset 3-1 and Bodden Town dismissed Elite 3-1 at Ed Bush Play Field.
