A new report has noted that
outbound US travel by air was up by 8 per cent in May.
The United States Department of
Commerce said that outbound traffic was 3.6 million, up by 8 per cent compared
to the same month in 2009.
Traffic to the Caribbean was up by
2 per cent and is now up by 4 per cent in the year so far.
US spending in May 2010 by US
travellers on foreign carrier passenger fares – imports – totalled $2.4
billion, up 19 per cent compared to May 2009.
For the month, the balance of trade
for passenger fares was a $25 million surplus where foreign passenger fares on
US carriers – exports – exceeded imports.
