Little Cayman Heritage Day a great success

Little Cayman started Pirates Week
with a bang on Saturday, 6 November with an event that was dubbed the best ever
by organisers.

“It was the biggest and best Little
Cayman has ever seen; the fireworks were computerised with really big ones, we
had five float entries and there were a lot of repeat guests who come every
year and brought extra guests with them,” said Kerry Scott, president of the
Pirates Week organising committee in Little Cayman.

“Everyone was pretty much in some
sort of costume, and Darvin Ebanks brought the pirates over – they brought a
real feel over, smacking their swords around and their pirate presence and
rituals. The best moment for me was seeing the crowd respond to them; they put
the pirate spirit and feeling into everyone, you could really feel it.”

There were hundreds of people in
attendance, said Ms Scott, in addition to the local presence.

“It was really good, really nice –
there were loads of kids participating, dressed as pirates and looking really
good. We wanted it to be family-oriented festival and it was very kid-friendly.
The float parade was wonderful, the dance was great and [the whole event]
really was one of the best we’ve ever had. Everyone really enjoyed it,” she
added.
