Get a flavour of Christmas in chilly northern climes and
visit Camana Bay where it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the town
centre.
The location’s final festive preparations are being made
to the magical décor to attract hundreds of shoppers to its fourth annual
Christmas tree lighting on Tuesday, 23 November.
Marvel at the enchanting 30-foot tree adorned with
hundreds of sparkling lights which will illuminate The Crescent for the entire
holiday season.
The popular holiday tradition will take place from 6-8pm
on The Crescent and is always a huge magnet for families getting into the
holiday spirit.
The lighting of the tree officially marks the beginning
of Christmas festivities at Camana Bay. To get you into the mood of the
holidays, the Cayman National Choir and Orchestra, accompanied by the Cayman
International School Choir and Cayman Youth Choir, will perform traditional
Christmas carols. Song sheets will be provided to encourage the audience to
sing along.
Santa Claus will make a much anticipated appearance to
light up the Christmas tree. Parents will be able to take pictures of their
kids with Santa, and the children will delight in sharing their holiday wishes
with him. Santa will also bring snow to The Town Centre of Camana Bay for this
event and on select dates throughout the holiday season.
Preparations are also well under way for the spectacular
Festival of Trees. A major fundraiser for the Central Caribbean Marine
Institute, the finale of this event is the auctioning of six-foot Christmas
trees that have been decorated and laden with gifts by sponsors to raise money
for the work that CCMI carries out in the Cayman Islands. The trees will be on
display at Camana Bay’s Market Street from 23-26 November from 5-9pm. The
dinner and auction will take place on 27 November at Camana Bay. Tickets are
$150.
“The Festival of Trees is an opportunity to raise some
money to support the upkeep of our research centre in Little Cayman,” said
CCMI’s Samantha Shaxted. “Sponsors will decorate trees, limited only by their
creativity and imagination. We obviously hope that it is going to be a huge
success,” said Ms Shaxted.

Guests can also get a jump start on their holiday
shopping by visiting the Christmas Craft market that will be set up along The
Crescent. A variety of local artists will be selling an array of crafts that
could make perfect gifts and stocking stuffers.
There is ample self-parking for this event, as well as
valet parking from Premier Valet.
