Police are showing they are not just going to sit tight and allow motorists to drive with unfastened seat belts.
In a special operation in George Town on Thursday morning, they caught 19 motorists driving without their seat belts fastened.
The operation took place on Crewe Road from 10.30am to 11.30am, said an RCIP press release.
‘Although it now seems the public are getting better when it comes to belting up – the police will continue to carry out operations such as this to educate drivers on the risks that go hand in hand with not securing their seatbelts,’ said Sergeant Adrian Barnett.
All 19 drivers have been warned of their intended prosecution, said the RCIP.
