Start warming up for Gimistory, the annual storytelling festival on Friday, 11 November.
The Cayman National Cultural Foundation, which organises Culture Jam on the second Friday of every month, is hosting a special Gimistory warm up session next Friday.
Culture Jam is an open event where artists and performers from a variety of disciplines can take the stage to showcase new material and try it out on a live audience. This could be anything from singing and music to play reading, dancing or any other artistic or cultural pursuit.
With the ever popular Gimistory coming up, this is a special occasion for those who will not be able to participate in the story telling festival itself, to have their turn in the spotlight, telling their favourite tales.
At the Gimistory warmup session of Culture Jam, there will be a special screening of a film about Gimistory with calypso folk tales dating back to 2004, the year that Hurricane Ivan struck.
Culture Jam is a great opportunity to unwind from a week at work in an informal and relaxed atmosphere at the Harquail Studio Theatre. Admission is free and there is a cash bar to help you get into the weekend mode. All proceeds go to CNCF programmes.
