Few details on diver death

The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service said a middle-aged diver died Wednesday afternoon after being taken from the water near the Kittiwake dive site along Seven Mile Beach.

Police said at around 3.30pm Wednesday they received a report that an unconscious man was taken on board the ‘Cayman Sky’ vessel, which was in the vicinity of the Kittiwake.

The 54-year-old man, an American tourist who was a return visitor to Cayman, was taken to the hospital where has was pronounced dead.

He was on a dive with Don Foster’s Dive Cayman and got into difficulty upon surfacing, police said.

He was later identified as John O’Sullivan of Texas, USA.

According to police, officers with the Criminal Investigation Department in West Bay have begun an enquiry into the incident.
