Go, rubber ducks!

Be prepared to witness something very quacky in the Camana Bay canal on Saturday, 11 June, as Z99 and Rooster radio team up with Home Gas to present the Duck Derby fundraiser to support the Cayman Islands Little League Association.

Participants and spectators alike can enjoy the yellow spectacle from 2-5pm at The Crescent in Camana Bay. Each of the 2,000 ducks can be “adopted” for $25, with all proceeds gooing to the Cayman Islands Little League Association.

What is a duck derby?

Quite simply, it’s a rubber duck race. Participants pay for the number that is found on the bottom of a duck – that is to say, they “adopt” the duck.

The ducks are released en masse into the water – in this case the Camana Bay canal with a man-made current helping them along. If your duck crosses the finish line first, you win the grand prize.

Enjoy the water view

“Camana Bay is very excited to be part of the … Duck Derby in support of the Cayman Islands Little League Association. With its open spaces and uncompromised harbour views, The Crescent is a perfect venue for this spectacular event. Guests will be able to sit along the waterfront and watch as thousands of rubber ducks race across the harbour,” says Bianca Freeland, public relations coordinator at Dart Realty (Cayman) Ltd.

Anyone interested in “adopting” a duck should visit Home Gas, Sports Supply, Walkers Road Esso, Shedden Road Esso, Seven Mile beach Esso and the Z99 studio.
