Schools closing early as Cayman prepares for storm

All government schools will close today at 3pm, the Ministry of Education has announced.

The early closures are in response to the issuance of a Hurricane Alert by the Cayman Islands government earlier today.

The schools will remain closed on Monday.

While a number of private schools the Compass contacted said they would remain open for normal hours today, some are closing early and asking parents to pick up their children.

St. Ignatius Catholic School will close at 2:20pm.

And First Baptist Christian School will close at 2:45pm.

The Cayman Islands Public Library Services has also advised that it is closing all public libraries today (Friday). They will reopen once the all-clear has been given.
