The National Children’s Voluntary Organisation will hold a Children’s Book Festival at the ARC in Camana Bay on Saturday, 9 March.

The event is the first of many this year that the NCVO will be hosting to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

Organisers say there will be many activities on offer and plenty of prizes to be won at Saturday’s event.

Locally based authors will be there to celebrate books, sign copies, and read to children. LIFE (Literacy is For Everyone) will also be on hand to chat with parents, while the Next Chapter store will be hosting literacy-based activities with prizes.

Among the prizes up for grabs will be for those dressed as characters from books, so kids are being encouraged to make use of their World Book Day costumes.

There will also be lots of arts and crafts activities “to keep little (and big) hands busy”, organisers said in a press release.

“We encourage you to bring a picnic and sit outside on the grass, making the most of the space,” they said.
