Police are investigating a stabbing at the East End football field after a man was wounded in the head and abdomen.
The RCIPS said its officers responded to a report of the stabbing shortly after 9:45pm on Saturday, 20 April.
When police arrived at the scene, they found the wounded man.
“It was reported that the man had been in the parking lot of the location when he was approached by three other men, who became aggressive towards him.
“One of the three men then used an object to stab the victim, they then left the location,” police said.
Police helped with medical care of the victim while waiting for the emergency medical services to arrive. He was then transported by ambulance to the hospital for treatment.
He has since been discharged, police said.
In its statement, the RCIPS said at this stage of investigation there is no indication the incident was gang related.
This is the second violent incident to occur at football facilities in Cayman in the past two months.
Seven people were shot and injured when a gunman opened fire during a match at the Ed Bush Stadium in West Bay on 26 Feb. Police have said they believe that shooting was gang related.
Police are appealing for anyone with information about the stabbing to contact CID at 947-2220.
