Many businesses and government offices are closing early as Hurricane Beryl approaches the Cayman Islands. Below is a list of these closures, which will be updated regularly, so keep checking back for the latest information.

Banks: All retail banks in the Cayman Islands, including Butterfield, Cayman National, CIBC Caribbean, Proven Bank, Scotiabank and Trust, and RBC Royal Bank, will be closed on Wednesday, and will not reopen until the all-clear is signalled, according to an announcement by the Cayman Islands Bankers’ Association. ATMs and online banking services will continue as normal.

Airports: Owen Roberts International Airport on Grand Cayman will cease operations at 6pm Wednesday. Charles Kirkconnell International Airport on Cayman will close at 3pm Wednesday. The airports will reopen once the ‘All Clear’ is issued. Cayman Airways has announced that it is adding one more evacuation flight to Miami to the seven flights it is already operating today. The additional flight leaves at 3:40am.

Health clinics: Health Services Authority outpatient clinics, including district health centres, urgent care, therapy services, mental health, phlebotomy, radiology, dental and eye clinics across all three islands will close as of 12pm on Wednesday and remain closed Thursday.

The Smith Road Pharmacy, Main Hospital Pharmacy and Faith Hospital Pharmacy will close at 2:00pm Wednesday. The Information Desk and Medical Records at Cayman Islands Hospital will also close at 2:00pm.

The Cayman Islands Hospital emergency room in George Town will remain open but emergency vehicles will not operate during tropical-storm-force winds.

Emergency services for Faith Hospital will be temporarily moved to Aston Rutty Medical Wing from 1:00pm on Wednesday. To contact the Brac emergency room, call 244-7643.

Little Cayman Health Centre can be reached at 916-5395 in an emergency.

Supermarkets: On Wednesday, Foster’s Supermarket will open at 6.30am and close at 1pm; Cost-U-Less will be open 7am to 1pm; Kirk Market will be open 6:30 to 1pm; Hurley’s Marketplace will be open 6:30 to 1pm. These stores will be closed on Thursday.

DVDL: All Department of Vehicle and Drivers’ Licensing offices will have normal operating hours Tuesday, but will only open from 8:30am-10am on Wednesday. Customers can renew their vehicle and drivers’ licences online at www.dvdl.gov.ky.

Cayman National Bank ATMs: CNB cash machines at Centennial in West Bay and Countryside in Savannah will be inaccessible from 3pm Wednesday.

Football: All football-related activities are cancelled until after the all-clear. The Cayman Islands Football Association says the cancellation will impact training for the Cayman Islands Under-15 Girls National Team, the Under-14 Boys National Team and the Senior Men’s National Team.

Parliament: The meeting scheduled for Friday, 5 July, has been postponed to a new as-yet-undetermined date.

Port: The Port Authority is advising its customers to collect any outstanding cargo they may have at its facility as soon as possible, noting that it is not responsible for cargo damaged due to the storm. The port will close at 12 noon on Wednesday.

Department of Environmental Health: The George Town landfill will close at noon on Wednesday. The 24-hour landfill drop-off will remain open to the public. The operating hours at the landfills on the Sister Islands are 8am to 3pm Wednesday. All landfills will remain closed on Thursday. Also, with immediate effect, derelict vehicles, scrap metals, or used oil will not be accepted until further notice. There will be no garbage collections on Thursday. The DEH said this suspension will affect the ordinary schedule, causing a delay by at least one day. Also, recyclable materials will not be able to be processed until further notice. However, recyclable materials currently deposited at the depots will be collected to ensure they do not become litter or a hazard.

PlanCayman meetings: Public meetings to discuss the proposed National Development Plan, known as PlanCayman, scheduled in North Side on Thursday and on Cayman Brac on Saturday, have both been postponed. Rescheduled dates will be circulated later.

Public Transport Unit: The Public Transport Unit and Bus Depot closed at 2pm Tuesday to complete storm preparation for the impending hurricane. Customers can submit their applications online for processing via [email protected]. Any other enquiries may be submitted to [email protected].

CINICO: The CINICO offices closed at 2:30pm Tuesday.

Court: All cases in the local courts were adjourned from 2pm Tuesday. Judicial Administration noted that cases affected by the adjournment will be rescheduled and new dates communicated to all relevant parties in due course. Attendance for new jurors summoned for the 3 July 2024 session has been postponed until Monday, 8 July 2024.

Turtle Centre: The facility will be closed to the public from 2pm Tuesday until after the all-clear is issued.

Cayman National Cultural Foundation: All CNCF properties are closed until the all-clear is announced.
