Police are asking for the public’s help with finding jewellery stolen from a private home during the festive break.

During the night of 27-28 Dec., according to police reports, a man broke into the property in North Side and stole five high-value rings.

The missing rings are a double row yellow gold Clash de Cartier ring, a yellow gold Cartier Love Ring, two 1.8 carat diamond and white gold stackable rings, and a white gold halo diamond ring with a total of 21 full-cut diamonds totalling 1.26 carats.

The alarm was raised just after 10.30am and police were called to the property.

Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance to locate these stolen items and are reminding people that it is an offence to handle stolen goods, a criminal offence which can attract a sentence of up to 14 years.

  1. Thank heavens they left the two turtle doves and the 10 lords a leapin’, not that lords have much else to do these days now a hereditary title doesn’t even get you into the House of Lords dining room.

Probably shouldn’t make fun of people’s tragic loss, but this is the epitome of a modern Christmas tale; conspicuous consumption, greed and crime.

Anybody with information on the carol-appropriate crime is asked to contact the Bodden Town police who have reminded us all it is a crime to handle stolen goods.

Actually the UK Theft Act s.22 requires the police to prove you knew they were stolen and requires you do so while “dishonestly receiving, retaining, removing, disposing of, or assisting in the realization of stolen items” otherwise it would be an offence for the police to even try to retrieve the property.
