A man was stabbed to death after an early morning street fight in George Town.
A police spokesman confirmed that a man had died after the fight at the intersection of Mary Street and McField Lane broke out just after 4am on Friday, 13 Feb and another was wounded.
The two were rushed to the Anthony S Eden Hospital, but one of them was pronounced dead by doctors shortly after arrival.
Police said the other man was admitted to the hospital, where he is still undergoing treatment for what are said to be non-life threating injuries.
Two men, aged 19 and 24, and two women, aged 24 and 25, were later arrested on suspicion of murder and affray.
Police said the four, all from George Town, remained in custody and that investigation of the incident continued.
The police later confirmed that a 42-year-old man from West Bay had turned himself into police on Friday night and was arrested in connection with the incident and detained in custody.
The crime scene was still cordoned off late on Friday morning and Mary Street between Shedden Road and Fort Street was also shut as forensic specialists combed the area.
Passers-by in the area declined to comment on the incident on Friday morning.
Detective Superintendent Peter Lansdown appealed for any witnesses who had not spoken to police to come forward.
He added, “We appeal for these people to make themselves known to us and explain what happened.
“We have established methods of protecting witnesses if necessary”.
Police said they wanted to speak to anyone who was in the Mary Street/McField Lane area between 4am and 4:30am on Friday and who may have seen something of value to detectives or who may have information about the incident to contact them.
