Police have warned Sister Island residents they will clamp down on driving offences after two crashes in a single day on Cayman Brac.
Police said the move came after a “concerning” rise in the number of road users driving too fast and committing other offences on major roads in Cayman Brac and Little Cayman.
Police added that “Officers have responded to the increase in speeding offences in the Sister Islands with targeted road safety enforcement initiatives across both islands, aimed at encouraging safer and lawful use of the road by all road users.”
Police said, “Drivers who are observed using the road in a manner that endangers themselves or others will be stopped and prosecuted.”
Police issued a press release on 16 April after a Honda Fit and a Honda Logo were in collision on Cotton Tree Bay Road, near Polack Drive on Wednesday, 15 April.
The Honda Fit was turning on to Polack Drive as the Honda Logo travelled in the opposite direction.
The drivers of both cars were treated at the scene for minor injuries, but the two cars suffered “significant” damage.
A Honda SUV and a Toyota Corolla were in collision later that day as the Honda left a car park to join West End Road East.
The passengers in the Toyota also suffered minor injuries and were taken to Faith Hospital for treatment but were later released.
Police said both incidents were still under investigation.
Police are urging all motorists to follow the rules of the road, avoid speeding and other dangerous driving habits such as distracted driving.
