Search underway for missing person off Seven Mile Beach

The Cayman Islands Coast Guard is searching for a missing person at sea in the Seven Mile Beach area.

The response was initiated after a reporting party, who is known to the missing individual, discovered their riderless jet ski adrift approximately 1 mile offshore, the Cayman Islands Coast Guard said in a social media post shortly after 11pm on Saturday.

The Coast Guard said, “It is important to note that the reporting party did not physically witness the individual fall from the watercraft.”

Upon being notified, Coast Guard units immediately deployed and conducted an extensive search of the surrounding waters. The search-and-rescue operation continued late into Saturday night and recommenced Sunday, 7 June at 5:30am.

The Cayman Islands Fire Service and the RCIPS drone unit are also involved in the search.
