Breezes by the Bay Restaurant on the George Town waterfront will be open early on Sunday, 6 March when the restaurant hosts the race party for the Cingular Wireless Cayman Islands Marathon.
The restaurant will be opening at 4am on the Sunday of the race to sell breakfast to spectators and supporters, and provide entertainment for the runners and spectators as they arrive, and for the crowd while they wait for the runners to cross the finish line, which will be located directly across the street from Breezes.
‘We are so happy that Breezes by the Bay has come on board as the Official Party Zone sponsor,’ said Rhonda Kelly, Race Director for the Marathon. ‘This new element will add a lot of excitement to the event and will keep the spectators occupied while the race is going on. Breezes’ commitment to the race and their enthusiasm about bringing people out on race day to participate in the action was the major factor in our decision to relocate the start/finish line to the restaurant.’
‘The Cayman Islands Marathon is still in its infancy but it has enormous potential to become a huge event, attracting hundreds, perhaps thousands of visitors to the island,’ explained Tom Lasley, owner of Breezes by the Bay. ‘I understand the vision for this race and we want to be a part of building this event and making it a success. The public can expect to experience lots of fun, excitement and a great race on March 6, all courtesy of Breezes by the Bay Tropical Grill and Rhum Deck!’
Michel Limoges, General Manager of Breezes, is already busy planning for this exciting event, having applied for an early morning Liquor License extension so that spectators who wish to celebrate with an eye-opener will be able to do so.
‘Breezes serves the best Caesar’s, Bloody Marys, Screwdrivers and Tequila Sunrises on the island,’ boasts Limoges. ‘We are going to be ready to inspire the runners to finish in record time so they can come and join the fun with the spectators on our huge wrap around balconies. March 6th is going to be a Great Day!’
Registration is still open for the Marathon, half-marathon and 4-person relay. For more information, log on to www.CaymanIslandsMarathon.com or call 525 8822.
