Cayman’s National Pensions Office recently met to discuss key goals and aims for the future.
Staffers at the office, under the Ministry of Education, Human Resources and Culture, were joined by Permanent Secretary for Education Joy Basdeo, temporarily assigned to the Ministry of Tourism, and Acting Permanent Secretary for Education Mrs. Mary Rodrigues
Superintendent of Pensions Cyril Theriault said: ‘This was a great opportunity to discuss the future direction of the NPO with staff, and to set out some concrete plans to achieve the goals this office has been working towards over the past few months.
‘The strategic direction being developed will serve the government well over the next three to five years.’
Main areas under discussion were the registration and annual review of all pension plans; investigation of reports of non-compliance with – and advice regarding — the National Pensions Law; and development of a public-education campaign.
‘Our aim is to be a knowledge centre when it comes to the regulatory aspect of pension plans,’ Mr. Theriault said.
‘We also plan to address the evolving needs and interests of employees and beneficiaries, legislators, employers and administrators,’ he said.
