Cayman Reef Club in Bodden Town was demolished over the weekend to make room for the rebuilding of the eight-unit condominium complex.
A spokesperson for the strata confirmed that all owners had been contacted and their unanimous decision was to rebuild. The alternative would have been to sell the property.
Formerly known as Musket Apartments, the site is along Manse Road, along Grand Cayman’s south coast.
Hurricane Ivan hit the structure over the weekend of 11-12 September, rendering it unliveable and beyond repair.
Three of the units had been owner-occupied. The other units were being rented out, with some owners planning to retire there.
No precise timetable has been set for construction to begin because the next step will be consideration of building design.
