The Cayman Islands have scooped six top notch awards with an international travel magazine, including Friendliest People and Best All-round Destination in the Caribbean.
As Cayman was cleaning itself up following Hurricane Ivan, little did it know it was also cleaning up in a prominent travel magazine’s readers’ awards.
These were the words of Ms Carol Johnson of Caribbean Travel & Life Magazine who announced that Cayman had won six categories in a special readers’ choice poll in the publication.
Aside from the prestigious Friendliest People award and Best All-round Destination award, Cayman also took Best Diving, Best Snorkelling and Best Beach in the Caribbean (Seven Mile Beach). The Hyatt Regency Hotel won Best Hotel in the Caribbean in the large hotel category.
The presentations were made at the Cayman Islands Tourism Exchange, held by the Cayman Islands Tourism Association at the Courtyard Marriott Thursday morning.
General Manager of the Hyatt Regency Hotel & Resort Grand Cayman, Mark Bastis accepted the Best Hotel award while Leader of Government Business and Minister for Tourism McKeeva Bush, along with Department of Tourism representatives were presented with the other awards.
