Robbery arrests

On Friday, 19 May, at 2.50pm, a female employee of a George Town business was robbed of the company’s payroll, which contained a substantial amount of money, when she was approached by masked males in a parking lot.

The female was unharmed, but shaken by the ordeal.

The two males fled the scene in a silver motor vehicle, which was subsequently found and impounded by police.

Following further investigation, two Caymanian male residents of Newlands, aged 22 and 25, were arrested by CID officers on Saturday.

Aircraft emergencies

Within an hour of each other on Sunday, 22 May, police/fire and other emergency services were informed of two emergencies involving aircraft.

At 10.37am, a call was received from air-traffic control of a Cayman Airways Boeing 732 en route from Cayman to Tampa. The captain reported a low oil-pressure reading, and returned safely to Cayman at 10.53am with 52 passengers.

Shortly afterwards, at 11.39am, Island Air flight 6312, traveling from Grand Cayman to Little Cayman, signaled problem with its landing gear.

The plane returned to Owen Roberts airport, arriving safely with five people at 11.59am.

Fight

On Saturday, 21 May, at 11.59am, police attended a fight involving a group of males at a Lawrence Boulevard nightclub. During the incident, police arrested a 22-year- old Prospect male for assault on police and disorderly conduct

Weapons possession

On Saturday at 12.50pm, a 40-year-old Jamaican male was arrested for possessing an offensive weapon and threatening violence.

Disorderly conduct

On Friday at 10.50am, a 19-year-old Caymanian male was arrested for disorderly conduct in a police station, taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and burglary.
