Eight Caymanians received Queen’s Birthday Honours 2005 on Saturday, many for their services during and after Hurricane Ivan.
Heading the list was Huw Moses, who was made an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, Civil Division in recognition of his contribution to the financial-services industry and the community.
Michael Thomas Adam was made a Member of the British Empire for services to aviation and the community.
The Queen’s Police Medal for meritorious and distinguished service to the Royal Cayman Islands Police and other police services was awarded to Chief Superintendent of Operations Derek Haines.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Anthony Ennis,received the Colonial Police Medal for meritorious, dedicated and outstanding service to the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service.
Governor Bruce Dinwiddy also honoured four Caymanians with the Cayman Islands Certificate and Badge of Honour.
Peter Milburn and Minard Foster gained recognition for services to the community.
John Ebanks was recognised for public service and services to the community, and Laurel Ryan was honoured for services to education and the community.
The official Birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth was marked by a ceremonial parade and 21-gun salute in front of the Legislative Assembly Building.
The Governor also bestowed honours on 19 recipients of previous honours and awards.
