Digicel Group has announced that Mr. Stephen Brewer, a 15-year telecommunications expert, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Digicel Trinidad & Tobago.
Mr. Brewer is expected to begin work 1 November.
Digicel’s success in June in a highly competitive spectrum auction will enable it to operate a mobile network in Trinidad & Tobago.
As CEO of Digicel T&T, Mr. Brewer will be responsible for developing Digicel into the country’s leading mobile telecommunications provider.
He will leverage his vast experience as a leader of successful companies. His past accomplishments include preparing Eircell for sale to the Vodafone Group in one of Ireland’s largest corporate deals. He became CEO of Vodafone (Ireland) and oversaw its transition from a stand-alone national company to an integral part of the Vodafone Group.
In addition, Mr. Brewer has previously held senior commercial posts with France Telecom Mobile, O2, Vodafone UK, and Cable & Wireless Caribbean.
‘Stephen’s proven leadership and experience in the telecommunications industry position him to successfully lead Digicel to become the number one mobile telecommunications company in Trinidad & Tobago,’ said Denis O’Brien, founder and chairman, Digicel Group.
‘The conditions for our launch in Trinidad and Tobago are certainly further enhanced with the addition of Stephen. We are focused on a rapid roll out of innovative services that will give Trinibagonians the opportunity to choose a service provider that offers added value, superior customer care, and wider coverage. This customer-centric approach has led to success and increased market share in every country we have entered. We look forward to playing an active role in the vibrant Trinidad & Tobago community and economy,’ added Digicel Group CEO, Mr. Colm Delves.
